Do you have a pet that you love? Isn’t it amazing how those little (or big!) creatures wrap themselves around our heart!
We had a beloved cat several years ago named Andy. He was an older cat and began to have kidney problems. Our vet, Dr. Beckwith (now retired), informed us that He needed surgery. I took the cat in on a Wednesday for the surgery. I picked him up and brought him home on Thursday. Friday, I was working at home when the phone rang.
“This is Dr. Beckwith calling.”
“Who? I said.”
“Dr. Beckwith. I did surgery on your cat yesterday. I’m just calling to check on how he’s doing….is he eating his food? How did he sleep last night?”
She was so concerned about the cat! I was floored! When I hung up the phone, I looked at my wife and said, “that was the VET calling about the cat!”
Dear reader, I’ve been in the hospital for surgery…no doctor has ever called me the next day!
That does it! I’M GOING TO THE VET THE NEXT TIME I need medical care.
Dr. Beckwith won our loyalty and repeat business with her excellence and professionalism (this met our expectation), but maybe even more so, it was a series of little, unexpected acts of kindness (which exceeded our expectations). We would not think of going to another vet.
Unexpected act of kindness can bond customers to our business.
